
Making Your PC Preform Lamps Actually Fit
We built our infrared heating lamps to be simple. The goal was to make something you could just slide into about 95% of the blow-molding machines out there and have it actually work. But here’s the thing: “fitting” isn’t just about the wattage. If the thermal geometry or the electrical footprint is off by even a hair, you’re looking at a headache.
Getting the heat right
Polycarbonate (PC) is picky. If you don’t hit that softening point exactly, you either get a cold preform or you scorch the material. To fix that, we use short-wave halogen tech. It pushes energy through those thick PC walls fast. We cram high wattage into a compact quartz envelope to create a serious amount of heat density. The result? Your cycle times drop. You move faster. Just a heads-up, though: these tubes put out a lot of ambient heat. If your oven’s ventilation isn’t up to the task, those lamps are going to burn out way sooner than they should.
No more guessing games with parts
We kept the connectors simple by sticking to R7s and SK15 bases. They’re the industry standards for a reason. If your machine uses them, our lamps just slide right in. No forcing, no modifications. We also use heavy-wall quartz glass. It doesn’t warp when things get hot. Plus, some of our tubes have special coatings that bounce the heat back toward the preform instead of letting it bleed away. It’s just a smarter way to save energy.
The honest truth about lifespan
Let’s be real—no lamp lasts forever. Even with the best quartz, your biggest enemy is your power grid. If your voltage spikes, that filament is toast. If you want these to last, use a stable power controller. It keeps everything consistent so you get a steady softening temperature from top to bottom. That’s how you avoid those annoying hot spots that leave your bottles looking deformed.
