What’s really going on under the hood
Here’s the thing about how these heaters work. They run on a specific electrical footprint, usually pulling between 1500W and 2500W at either 230V or 400V. But the power isn’t what matters most—it’s the power density. A 300mm or 400mm tube concentrates all that wattage into a tight space. That’s how it creates such intense heat. It warms people and objects directly, not the air around them. That’s why you can feel the warmth even on a breezy night.
Built to last, not just to work
The heart of the design is the shortwave infrared halogen tube. The quartz envelope handles the shock of heating up fast and cooling down just as quickly. Inside, the halogen cycle keeps the filament stable, which gives the lamp a much longer life than a standard incandescent bulb. And the R7s base? That was a deliberate choice. It gives you a solid, two-point connection that can handle high current without flexing. It’s simple. It’s tough. And we know it holds up on the shop floor, day after day.

In practice, this setup is a straightforward drop-in replacement for an old patio heater. You wire it up, and bam—instant radiant heat. Just keep in mind, this is a high-output device. The heat density is serious, so the mounting hardware and enclosure have to be rated for those temperatures.
